Used Engine ECU for Medium-Duty Trucks
Engine control modules (ECM / PCM) — matched by part number, with the programming reality explained up front.
- Used OEM part
- Tested before shipping
- Electronics warranty
- Ships to the lower 48

The engine control module is the one part nobody wants to buy twice. A new ECM from the dealer for a 4HK1 NPR, a 6.7L Power Stroke F-550 or a Duramax Kodiak runs well into four figures before programming — and on the older chassis the new part is often discontinued.
We source used OEM ECMs from running donor trucks with the same engine, emissions calibration and model year, verify them by part number, and back them with our electronics warranty. Just as important, we tell you honestly what your truck will need after installation: some ECMs are plug-and-play with a matched part number, others need an immobilizer/key relearn or a dealer flash.
Signs your engine ecu has failed
- No-start with no communication to the ECM (scan tool can’t connect)
- Codes P0601–P0606 (internal module memory / processor faults)
- Injector or sensor circuits faulting on several cylinders at once
- Water intrusion, corrosion or heat damage at the ECM connector or case
- Runs, then stalls or cuts out once the module warms up
- Drivability problems that new sensors and injectors didn’t fix
Before you order
- Part number and calibration matter more than anything: send the number off the module label plus your VIN and we match engine, transmission type and emissions (federal vs. CARB) exactly.
- Immobilizer: Isuzu (2008+), Ford PATS and Ram systems tie the ECM to the keys. Plan for a key relearn or dealer programming — we’ll tell you which applies.
- Rule out the basics: battery voltage, ECM power and ground circuits and the main harness connector. A module diagnosis on a truck with a bad ground is the most common misdiagnosis we see.
- GM Duramax and Ford Power Stroke modules should be flashed with your VIN after installation to keep emissions and transmission calibration correct.

Frequently asked questions
Which trucks do you stock a used Engine ECU for?
Isuzu NPR, NQR and NRR; Ford F-450 and F-550; Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 4500HD/5500HD plus Kodiak and TopKick C4500; Ram 4500 and 5500; and Mitsubishi Fuso Canter FE125–FE180. Pick your truck below or send us your VIN.
Is a used Engine ECU tested before it ships?
Yes. Every engine ecu we sell is pulled from a running donor truck, inspected and tested before it ships.
How do I get a quote for a used Engine ECU?
Use the form on this page or call us. Share your truck and VIN and we confirm exact fitment, then call you back with a price in about 30 seconds during business hours — or email it if we can’t reach you.
Is a used Engine ECU covered by a warranty?
Yes — used electronics like this engine ecu are backed by our warranty, a category most sellers exclude entirely. Exact terms are confirmed on your quote.
Do you ship a used Engine ECU nationwide?
Yes — we ship to all 48 contiguous states with tracked delivery. Most parts arrive in 3–7 business days; engines, transmissions and axles ship freight and typically arrive in 5–10.
Will a used ECM work without programming?
Sometimes. A matched part number on an Isuzu without an immobilizer, or on many older GM trucks, will often start and run immediately. Trucks with immobilizer systems (Ford PATS, Isuzu 2008+, Ram) need a key relearn or dealer flash. We tell you what your truck requires before you buy.
Do you match my truck’s emissions calibration?
Yes. We match engine code, model year and federal vs. CARB calibration, which keeps the truck legal in every state and avoids DEF/DPF faults after the swap.
Is a used electronic module covered by a warranty?
Yes. Electronics are covered under our warranty — a category most used-parts sellers refuse to warranty at all. Programming, where your truck needs it, is the buyer’s responsibility unless agreed on your quote.
