A steering column with play, a failed tilt lock or a worn ignition lock cylinder is a safety-inspection failure and a driver complaint on every shift. New columns are among the most expensive steering parts a dealer sells — and for Kodiak/TopKick, early NPR and Fuso chassis, often unavailable.
We supply complete used OEM columns from running donor trucks, checked for bearing play, tilt/telescope function and lock operation. Many come with the ignition switch, clockspring and column-mounted switches installed, which cuts labor and saves sourcing a dozen small parts.
Signs your steering column has failed
- Play or clunk felt in the wheel that isn’t in the intermediate shaft or gear box
- Tilt or telescope won’t lock, or drops under load
- Ignition key hard to turn, sticks, or won’t return from start
- Grinding or binding when turning, felt in the column itself
- Airbag/clockspring or horn faults after the column has been worked on
- Column bearing noise that changes when you lift or push on the wheel
Before you order
- Tell us tilt/non-tilt, telescopic, column shifter vs. floor shifter, and whether you need the ignition lock and key — this changes the part.
- Ignition: a used column may ship with the donor’s lock cylinder and key; on trucks with immobilizer systems you may need your own cylinder installed or a key relearn. We’ll tell you what applies.
- Clockspring: if your truck has a driver airbag, the column must be centered and the clockspring handled carefully on installation — a job for a qualified tech.
- If the play is at the lower joints rather than the column, see Intermediate Shaft.

Frequently asked questions
Which trucks do you stock a used Steering Column for?
Isuzu NPR, NQR and NRR; Ford F-450 and F-550; Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 4500HD/5500HD plus Kodiak and TopKick C4500; Ram 4500 and 5500; and Mitsubishi Fuso Canter FE125–FE180. Pick your truck below or send us your VIN.
Is a used Steering Column tested before it ships?
Yes. Every steering column we sell is pulled from a running donor truck, inspected and tested before it ships.
How do I get a quote for a used Steering Column?
Use the form on this page or call us. Share your truck and VIN and we confirm exact fitment, then call you back with a price in about 30 seconds during business hours — or email it if we can’t reach you.
Is a used Steering Column covered by a warranty?
Yes, we stand behind this steering column with our warranty. Exact terms are confirmed on your quote.
Do you ship a used Steering Column nationwide?
Yes — we ship to all 48 contiguous states with tracked delivery. Most parts arrive in 3–7 business days; engines, transmissions and axles ship freight and typically arrive in 5–10.
Does the column come with the ignition switch and key?
Often, as removed from the donor. If your truck’s immobilizer requires it, your own lock cylinder can be swapped in, or the dealer can pair the donor key. Ask and we’ll confirm for your VIN.
Is the airbag included?
No. Airbags are not included or sold; your existing airbag transfers to the replacement column.
Is a used steering column safe?
Columns from running donor trucks are inspected for bearing play, tilt/telescope lock and ignition operation. The wear items are the same ones you’d get on a rebuilt unit, and every part ships with our warranty.
